Move over Jersey Devil, Jim Calhoun is Taking Over

The fix is in. Seton Hall was ill equipped to deal with Conneticutt's offensive attack. When things looked a little too close in the first half, our Big East refs took over. The Hall never had a chance. Now Brian Laing is lying on the court. Take over your rightful ownership of the grand title of Jersey Devil, Jim. Take your professional athletes. Take your sneaker deals. Take your bad brand of baskeball. Good riddance.

UCONN dominated in the second half

Were you drunk when you wrote this or were SHU & the Huskies playing that new sport base-ketball? Either way, I would never make out with you...and what did you expect to happen? Did Louie Orr get thrown out of the game like Bob Leckie of St.Peter's did when his team was getting screwed by the officials? Team's like Uconn & Duke have home town fans & officiating crew whenever and wherever they play. It's a joke...

Gadfly, I dont care how much you think that the officials are "screwing" your team...first and foremost you have to make more baskets then the other team to win, not showboat and try and slam for the camera's... The fouls are fouls, the traveling was traveling...shite happens and ya wait for next game

You can talk about the refs all you want. 99-57 says it all.

It sure does...It says that people who comment anonymously should shampoo my crotch & fans of UConn & Duke are posers.

what says it all is the close first half, followed by the opening minutes of the second half where the game was officated in such a one-sided manner that conneticut was able to open up the game and blow seton hall out. conneticut is a very good team. they don't need that sort of help to win. they do need that sort of help to blow out seton hall. they would have won anyway, but i still believe the game was called badly. but that is what having a calhoun on the sidelines screaming at the officials for 40 minutes will get you. at any rate, jd is right. you move on to the next game. West Virginia tomorrow night at 7.30.

WVU bounced back against the Hoyas so let's hope they are tired out from that game...

Calhoun is a Hall of Famer for a reason. 20 years in the league also helps too. For the record Im a SHU fan

to quote archie, stifle, dingbat. nobody cares about jim calhoun's credentials. see above, West Virginia tomorrow at 7.30.

Yeah, Calhoun is a Hall of Famer for a reason...the reasons are his good players. Same as Coach K, I've never seen either of them make a mediocre team good...And if you are who we think you are, then you'll name yourself now...and don't clean your shoes in my parent's 'ool ever again! Noticed I left the "p" out of 'ool...We'd appreciate it if you did the same.

For the record Calhoun took over a UCONN team that in 1986 was a joke. Duke was the same when Coach K took over. It is called building a program. You recruit and then the program becomes something that recruits itself. Those two guys worked hard and when the winning didnt come right away the school stayed behind them that is why they are always where they are in the rankings. Also for the record I hate Duke more than anybody and Uconn is close but I realize they are great PROGRAMS, not one time wonders.

As for my shoes, I dont know what you are talking about

At 3:45 PM, February 13, 2006, Blogger Mookie McFly whispered...

Okay, easy there cowgirl...I'm not threatening you. I too hate Duke & UConn...I was just busting but they do get away with a lot of chirping that other coaches don't because they are good teams and it shouldn't be that way...if anything they should have to be held to higher standards. Oh, and if you aren't the person who bathed their shoes in my parents pool then, I apologize. It was gross and the person who did bathe their shoes in the pool is an unkempt rapscallion who was lost to us a while back...we thought he might have returned...anyway, welcome aboard if you are a SHU fan as I am of the delusion that they actually have a good chance to dance come March.

At 4:08 PM, February 13, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous whispered...

SHU may have a chance to dance in March, but coachs getting on refs is part of their job description. The better coaches,(ie Coach K and Calhoun) do thier job for many many years at the same school and have earned that respect. SHU should pick a coach and forge ahead or keep Orr if they feel he is the right coach to BUILD A PROGRAM. Unfortunately SHU can be a stepping stone for coaches. I also fell for the right indiviual it is a program with some great history, a great local recruiting base and a national name. Duke is a IVY League caliber education, but UCON is not really any different than Seton Hall in that department. The differance there is Husky Nation is behind Calhoun and the players. The Program has recruited itself for some time now. You shouldnt think that Uconn is getting the breaks or players, what you should do is try an emulate UCONN, Calhoun, and its fans. Until SHU has something close to that it will always be a good program, not great and sometimes awful.

I think they should hire anyone who didn't go to Syracuse...Possibly and ex-grad who has been successful, loves NJ, and doesn't want to coach a team in Michigan.

Hey, it's real easy to set up a profile...just make up a name. How's Andrew Gaze suit you?!? Or possibly Andrew Gays if you are into that sort of thing...not that there's anything wrong with that...

i missed the comment the other day about "building" programs and all that naive bullshit. save that for the cornballs on talk radio who blindly maintain there is any integrity left in big time college athletics. earlier this year, UConn blatlantly interfered with a recruit who had made a verbal commitment to St. Johns. That commitment has now been rescinded, and the kid is expected to sign a letter of intent with UConn. meanwhile, the Big East and NCAA have turned a blind eye. if that is what you meant by the program recruiting for itself, then i supppose you are right. in the future, spare me you rose-colored, knute rockne, all-american assessment.

At 9:52 AM, February 15, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous whispered...

The guy has been in "the game" for over 20 yrs at UCONN. I am not that naive to think things dont go on. That is "the game". If all you you think Jim Calhoun has done is screw over other coaches in recruiting you are crazy. The guy has built a program in a state that didnt care about basketball before. If you take over a Kentucky, UCLA or North Carolina you inherit a program. Most other schools build one and it starts with stability at the Head Coach. Dont knock UCONN for their stability there, instead try to learn from it and emulate HUSKY NATION. SHU has no stability in head coaches and no real team/school spirit. Until they do they will always have up and down seasons with no real program in place.

okay, i respond to one idiotic comment you made, and you respond by repeating this inane mantra about jim calhoun. seriously, take it over to WFAN and stop wasting my time. first of all, i will knock whoever the fuck i like. if uconn is cheating and tampering with recruits i will say so. i will not sit by while you misquote me by suggesting i EVER said that i think that is all calhound has done. stop making shit up, stop droning on about jim calhoun. we are all aware of what he has accomplished, and as i said before, nobody really cares what his resume says. that has never been the point so stop bringing it up...dope.

Oooh, you know that hurted...Hey Craicer, you should be nicer to Mr.Anon., after all, he wrote that cute poem about Fuzzy Wuzzy & the one about the man at the top of the stairs.

You are guys are clearly the types that got into college basketball because it was "the thing to do". Now you are into Miller High Life because being white trash is the "thing to do". So take your parachute pants out of the closet and drink your Bartyles and James WHine coolers while you watch reruns on Melrose Place because that use to be your "thing to do"

At 12:48 PM, February 15, 2006, Blogger Mookie McFly whispered...

You are a guy are who are into are...I can't speell but you obviously can't write...Seriously though I am and always was into basketball, college, pro, or in my back yard. If white trash was in or wasn't in, you'd know more about that than me. I have always liked cheap beer because...well, it's cheap. Now, I know that typo's happen so don't be such a sensitive little biatch...and come back soon, Kerwin the Frog.

At 12:57 PM, February 15, 2006, Anonymous Anonymous whispered...

I dont know why you think Im this Kerwin person, but Im not. As for my writing I do the best I can with my level of intelligence. As for college basketball, I probably have forgotten more than you will ever know. So tell me what is the Yuppie fad going on now so I make sure I dont get involved

At 2:24 PM, February 15, 2006, Blogger Mookie McFly whispered...

Too late, you are already blogging...and if you have forgotten it, than you don't know it...Is this your basis of intelligence? I am no yuppie but you can think what you want. I wish I was because they usually have nicer cars and homes than I have...so it's all good. People who are into stats, which I guess you are basing as knowledge, is overrated to me...people who pay attention to stats are the same people who cheered Sammy Sosa & Big Mac...I appreciate athletics, remember big games and usually like the little guy more than the Riddick's (see Calhoun & Coach K's rosters) of sports...For instance my favorite baseball player ever is Mookie Wilson. I could care less if you know how many points someone scored in the 1979 NCAA B-ball championship...I don't consider that knowledge...more like a waste of time.
